Devotionals are made to inspire your day and draw you closer to God. We need to remember God is love. If you read 1 Corinthians 13, the love chapter, replacing the word "love" with the name "Jesus" you come to the realization that Jesus is love. We are to demonstrate the love of Christ through our actions.

I have a playful spirit and love to laugh. Laughter is the best medicine. Have you ever wondered WHY?

Our bodies consist natural chemical in the body that fight pain. These endorphins can also make people happy. They are released when a person gets hurt, during exercise, laughter or sex. They can also be released by speaking in tongues.

I once took a course on divine healing, and one of the principles for divine healing is laughter and speaking in tongues. Both laughter and speaking in tongues increase the secretion of Endorphins, which speed up the process of healing.

Many of these devotionals may lean towards the humorous side to lighten the spirit, bring joy and promote healing and happiness.

Speak Up Already.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

An elderly woman returned to her home from an evening of Church services when she was startled by an intruder. She had caught a man in the act of robbing her home of its valuables. "Stop!" she yelled, "Acts 2:38!" (Repent and be baptized, in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins may be forgiven).

The burglar stopped dead in his tracks and froze while the woman calmly called the police and explained the situation. As the officer was cuffing him, he asked the burglar, "Just out of curiosity, why did you just stand there? All the old lady did was yell a scripture at you." "Scripture?!" gasped the burglar. "She said she had an ax... and two 38's!!"

It's a funny joke, yes, but on a serious note -- I think we often underestimate the power of the Word of God! We have the source so very close -- its right at our fingertips and should be right on our lips! Yet, we neglect to declare it over our circumstances, that we may see the victory!

Let's make it a point to start spending regular time in the Word, learning it and speaking it over our lives again and again! We need to be a walking testimony of His power and victory -- there is so much work to be done!

Flying the Kite in the Wind

April 19, 2020

There is a lot of confusion at this current time with illness and the isolation we have been forced into. The places we normally would go to such as the movie theaters, bowling alleys, etc. are all closed. How are we to take time to enjoy ourselves?

I work in a memory care unit. On many occasions  we have musicians come in and play for the residents. Kids come in from schools and join the residents for activities I have planned for them as a group. Our situation at this time is much different,...

Just Say No!

April 5, 2020

Psalms 27:1-3 The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

Two hunters came across a bear so big that they dropped their rifles and ran for cover. One man climbed a tree while the other ...

Missing that which is right in front of you...

April 5, 2020

I am always losing things; my glasses, my cell phone and my keys would have to be at the top of my list.

I can't tell you how many times I have went looking for my glasses, to find them hanging on my collar, where I often like to put them. Or even better to put them on top of my head just so one of my family members can point them out to me when I am frantically looking for them.

My cell phone and keys have to be on the very top of my list. My daughter has even purchased a device for me which ...

The Miracle Suit

April 1, 2020

Ever needed a miracle like… now?  My son called to say his wedding, postponed the previous summer, would take place in one month. Anticipating the first wedding date, I’d bought a dress that fit perfectly.

I hung up the phone and dropped my head into my hands.

How will I ever lose the fifteen pounds I’ve gained since summer?

I began working out and counting every calorie. Holding my stomach in, I got into the dress without bursting any seams.

Maybe another day without food and I’d loo...

Dividing Souls...

March 8, 2020

On the outskirts of town stood a big old pecan tree by the cemetery fence. One day two boys filled up a bucket with pecans and sat down by the tree, out of sight, and began dividing the nuts. "One for you, and one for me. One for you, one for me," said one boy. Several were dropped and rolled down toward the fence.

Another boy came riding along the road on his bicycle. As he passed, he thought he heard voices from inside the cemetery. He slowed down to investigate. Sure enough, he heard, "One ...
