An elderly woman and her little grandson, whose face was sprinkled with bright freckles, spent the day at the zoo. Lots of children were waiting in line to get their cheeks painted by a local artist who was decorating them with tiger paws. “You’ve got so many freckles, there’s no place to paint!” a girl in the line said to the little fella. Embarrassed, the little boy dropped his head. His grandmother knelt down next to him. “I love your freckles. When I was a little girl I always wanted freckles, she said, while tracing her finger across the child’s cheek. “Freckles are beautiful!” The boy looked up, “Really?” “Of course,” said the grandmother. “Why, just name me one thing that’s prettier than freckles.” The little boy thought for a moment, peered intensely into his grandma’s face, and softly whispered, “Wrinkles.”

We were all created as a creature of beauty in the likeness of God.

I am a perfectionist. I recognize this as my strength and weakness. I could never be an artist because I will always find a flaw and have to perfect it.

We are all pieces of art created by God. He created us the way he wanted us. Yes we all have flaws, but God doesn't see them because he loves as we are. He just wants us, as his children to love him in return and to admire and love the other pieces of art he has created the same way he does, as unique as each may be.

Psalm 139:13-14 — You alone created my inner being. You knitted me together inside my mother. I will give thanks to you because I have been so amazingly and miraculously made. Your works are miraculous, and my soul is fully aware of this.

Isaiah 64:8 — Yet you, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.

1 Peter 3:8-9 — To conclude: you must all have the same attitude and the same feelings; love one another, and be kind and humble with one another. Do not pay back evil with evil or cursing with cursing; instead, pay back with a blessing, because a blessing is what God promised to give you when he called you.
